In this session, Dr. Thomas will explore the critical role of the microbiome and probiotics within the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, examining how these factors contribute to metabolic health and may influence obesity. The primary focus of the presentation will be on the rapidly evolving field of endobariatrics and innovative nonsurgical weight loss solutions. Dr. Thomas will provide an in-depth overview of minimally invasive options, including Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) and Transoral Outlet Reduction (TORe), explaining their mechanisms, indications, contraindications, and techniques.

Dr. Thomas is a board certified gastroenterologist with Gastroenterology Specialties in Lincoln, NE. He completed his GI fellowship 11 years ago and has completed additional training in endobariatrics. He was one of the first gastroenterologists in the midwest to perform an endoscopic bariatric procedure using endoscopic suturing 6 years ago. He works closely with Dr. Sherri Thomas of Nebraska Weight & Wellness in order to offer a variety of nonsurgical procedures to help patients with their weight loss goals.
