Lisa Billings-Lindsey, DO

I was born in Maine and grew up in Ellsworth and I am very proud of my local roots.  After high school, I went to the University of Vermont for an undergraduate degree and then practiced as a physical therapist for about four years before deciding to continue on to medical school.  I attended University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and after graduation joined the Family Medicine Residency at EMMC.  After residency, I became employed by Blue Hill Family Medicine where I practice as a full time primary care physician for close to 10 years.  While working as a full time physician, I also joined leadership roles within Medical staff, first as the secretary/treasurer, then vice-president, then president.  I served the role of president for many years and enjoyed the connections of practice, hospital leadership, and board participation.  I also pursued a Master’s in Healthcare Administration through Walden University during this time.  In May 2020, I took on my current role which is the Physician Director of Primary Care at EMMC.  I did graduate with the MHA degree in February of 2020 as well.  In the three years since joining EMMC, I have focused on improvement of quality, informatic workflow, provider and staff satisfaction, and patient satisfaction.  I participate in various system committees as an active member or a chair related to informatics as well as the primary care service line.  I am the proud mother of two boys (16 and 11) as well as a step-daughter (17).  I enjoy spending my off time watching my boys participate in various sports, trying not to get too enthusiastic cheering on the sidelines.  I also love being on the water, joining my father lobstering, or my husband lobstering, tuna-fishing, and lobsterboat racing.
