James Douglas, DO
Jim is a compassionate, highly effective problem solver who is devoted to his patients and is a collaborative team player in his role of CMIO.
Jim has been a family practice physician for 34 years in central Maine. He has really enjoyed caring for his patients, newborn to geriatric. In addition, for the last 6 years, Jim has been chief medical informatics officer for 5 of the 10 Northern Light Health hospitals. Jim has been a lead for the development and implementation of many of the NLH’s system projects and initiatives for EHR and digital experiences. He really enjoys assisting providers with adoption and performance. Recently he has collaborated on the development of a new adoption and performance process which has been embraced by providers and supported by data. Jim is Co-lead of the Clinical Stakeholder Group – which is responsible for guiding the effectiveness and delivery of IS services and solutions that supports workflow efficiency, the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care, and positive patient outcomes.
On a personal note, Jim is very fortunate to be married to Crystal, a high school librarian, for 37 years. They have two children, Eloise who is a Nurse Midwife and Cameron who is an ER physician. Jim also enjoys kayaking, for which he is a registered Maine guide.
James Douglas, DO has no actual or potential conflict of interest, financial relationship/arrangement or affiliation with any entity producing, marketing, re-selling or distributing health care goods or services consumed by, or used on, patients.
