- Athletes of all ages, and conditioning, may participate in endurance sports. Many individuals lack the time, knowledge, or resources for proper training, and consequently are at risk for overuse injuries. Most injuries in endurance athletes are the result of overuse. Because these athletes are often seen first in a primary care setting with their musculoskeletal injuries and complaints, primary care providers must be able to diagnose and manage many common lower extremity injuries and know when to refer severe injuries to specialists.

- Knee osteoarthritis is very prevalent in the US population. Approximately 20% of the population over the age of 45 has OA. Treatment for is knee OA is not perfect and many people not do not qualify for treatment secondary to medical, health or age reasons. PRP may be beneficial in certain patient populations. We have a better understanding of the mechanism involved with PRP and there are multiple conflicting randomized controlled trials. Physicians should be aware of all possible options for patients.
