Tom Meuser, PhD

Dr. Tom Meuser, a clinical geropsychologist, is the Founding Director of the Center for Excellence in Aging & Health at the University of New England, a university-wide center focused on promoting applied human subject research which launched in September, 2018. He also lectures for the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine. His early career focused on Alzheimer's disease at two medical schools - St. Louis University and Washington University in St. Louis. For the 11 years prior to moving to Maine, he directed the Gerontology Graduate Program at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. His research interests include driver fitness and transportation mobility in aging, reminiscence and life review interventions, coping with loss, and screening for cognitive impairment (and other topis). He is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America and known internationally for his work on driving. Dr. Meuser was raised in Connecticut and has family in Maine, so he's thrilled to be "back home."
