Maria Basile, MD, MBA
Award-winning poet, surgeon, hospital and health plan administrator,
Maria A Basile, MD, MBA, C-HCQA is the Associate Director of the
Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care and Bioethics and
clinical assistant professor in the Department of Family, Population and
Preventive Medicine at Stony Brook University’s Renaissance School of
Medicine.
As a Diplomate of the American Board of Quality Assurance and
Utilization Review Physicians, Dr Basile is also a certified Physician
Advisor. A graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine and
the Willumstadt School of Business at Adelphi University, Dr Basile
founded the consulting firm PQL Communications Inc in 2021 to
pursue her interests in physician wellness and advocacy, healthcare
quality improvement and leadership development.
Dr Basile is a Past-president of the Suffolk County Medical Society, the
current president of the Suffolk Academy of Medicine, Vice-speaker for
the Medical Society of the State of New York and serves on the New
York Delegation to the American Medical Association’s House of
Delegates. She is Vice-chair of MSSNY’s Physician Wellness and
Resiliency Committee.
