Joerg R. Leheste, PhD, MSc
Joerg Leheste, PhD, MS is a Neuroscientist with a Master’s degree in Molecular Genetics from Marburg University and a PhD in Cell-and Molecular Biology from Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. Following a post doctorate at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, he joined NYITCOM in 2005 and again in 2020, and is now working in the Biomedical Sciences Department.
There, he directs the core curriculum for the new Masters in Biomedical Sciences Program and works toward a Cannabinoid Research Center for the school.
Dr. Leheste has senior administrative experience in curricular development and is passionate about the upsurge in curricular innovations seen in medical education. Dr. Leheste also strongly supports student-centered research and has facilitated nearly 200 student co-authorships in peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and abstracts.
In 2017, Dr. Leheste certified as an Osteopathic Health Policy Fellow. This past year, he started a Health Policy Research Track for students, which he plans to expand into a program.
