Francisco A.R. García, M.D., M.P.H., is the director and chief medical officer of the Pima County Department of Health in Tucson, AZ. Pima County, a large jurisdiction about the size of New Hampshire, shares the longest border with Mexico and has nearly 1 million diverse residents, including two large federally recognized American Indian communities. He is also a member of the U. S. Preventive Services Task Force, an independent volunteer panel of national experts in prevention and evidence-based medicine. Dr. García received his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, he is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
