Dr.Yogi Shah is the Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs for Broadlawns Medical Center. Dr. Shah joined the organization in September 2016 and served as a geriatrician in the Broadlawns Geriatric and Memory Center for his first three years with the Broadlawns. Prior to joining the medical staff at Broadlawns, he served as the Associate Dean of Global Health at Des Moines University and was the founding physician for the Des Moines University Memory Clinic.
Dr. Shah received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Bombay University in India. He completed his residency training in Family Medicine with the Mercy Mayo Residency Program, and he earned his Geriatric Fellowship from the Mayo Clinic where he worked on Mild Cognitive Impairment. He is triple-board-certified in Family Medicine, Geriatrics, Hospice and Palliative Care. Dr. Shah holds a Masters in Public Health from Des Moines University.

Dr. Yasameen Muzahim is board certified in Internal Medicine specializing in adult General Hepatology and Liver Transplant at Johnston Outreach Hepatology Clinic in Johnston, Iowa. She also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the University of Iowa. Dr. Muzahim graduated from St. George’s University/School of Medicine. She received her internal medicine residency training at Atrium Health- Navicent in Macon, Georgia. She subsequently completed her fellowship training in General Hepatology and Liver Transplant at Rutgers University/ School of Medicine in Newark, New Jersey. Dr. Muzahim continuously strives to provide patient-centered and evidence-based medical care to her patients. Outside of work, she enjoys working out and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Holly-Marie Bolger, DO, FACOG, MSCP, is an Associate Clinical Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Iowa Health Care. She practices as a full-scope academic generalist, covering obstetrics, gynecology, and gynecological surgery. With a special interest in menopause care, she holds certification in the field and serves as the Medical Director of the Menopause Health Clinic. Dr. Bolger is also actively involved in various departmental and institutional committees focused on quality, safety, and resident education.
Dr. Bolger completed her undergraduate studies at Drake University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry, cell, and molecular biology. She received her osteopathic medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011. Following her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Saint Louis University, she joined the faculty at the University of Iowa. In 2016, she relocated to Springfield, Missouri, joining a hospital-based practice, but returned to her current role at the University of Iowa in 2020.
Outside of her professional career, Dr. Bolger enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt, and their four children, ages 16, 12, 10, and 7. She stays active with her family’s school and sports commitments and enjoys outdoor activities, working out, cooking, and traveling.
Sara Spiva, DO is originally from Bettendorf, IA. She graduated from Wartburg College and received her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Kansas City University. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Medical Education Foundation in 2017 and became a faculty member shortly thereafter. She practices full-spectrum family medicine and has special interest in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, OB, procedures and point of care ultrasound. Her hobbies include sewing, quilting, painting, gardening, hiking, fishing, camping, bird watching, reading and watching sci-fi/fantasy and board games.
Dr. Abbott is originally from Northern Minnesota and attended college at Princeton University. He earned a combined MD/PhD degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He completed a pathology residency at Mayo Clinic Rochester and went on to finish a dermatopathology fellowship in the Dermatology Department at Mayo Clinic Rochester. He is board-certified in Anatomic Pathology and Dermatopathology.
He has practiced in Iowa for over 17 years and has served as President of the Iowa Association of Pathology and is active at a national level with the College of American Pathologists. He is also an adjunct faculty lecturer at Des Moines University's Osteopathic and Podiatric training programs.
Dr. Jon Crosbie is a Family Practice physician working in Des Moines, Iowa, since 2010. He graduated from Des Moines University in 2010 and completed his residency at Mercy Family Medicine Residency program in 2013. Following residency, he worked at The Iowa Clinic through 2017 and then in January of 2018, began practicing and teaching at his alma mater. He grew up in the area, having been born in Ames and graduated from Earlham High School 25 miles west of Des Moines.
Originally from New Hampton, Iowa, Matthew Samec, MD, completed undergraduate studies at the University of Northern Iowa before earning a Doctor of Medicine degree from Creighton University School of Medicine. Following medical school, Dr. Samec pursued an Internal Medicine Residency and a Rheumatology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He currently practices as a Rheumatologist at the Iowa Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center in Urbandale, Iowa.
Dr. Standing attended the University of Iowa for undergraduate studies and medical school. She completed a pediatric internship and residency at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She is board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and Integrative Medicine.
Dr. Standing is from Earlham, Iowa. She has two adult children and a border collie. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, biking, reading and helping her dad on the farm.
I attended Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine then trained in Family Medicine at Via Christi in Wichita, KS. Then practiced almost 10 years in rural Iowa doing Family Medicine with OB. Recently started as Faculty at MercyOne/PHC Family Medicine Residency program and am enjoying watching residents grow and learn over their 3 years of training with us. I love time off with my 2 daughters.
Dr. Monica Minjeur (pr. MIN-jer) is the founder and CEO of Radiant Clinic in Cedar Rapids, IA. The mission of Radiant Clinic is to restore natural menstrual cycles to improve health and promote fertility. As a board-certified family medicine physician, Dr. Minjeur specializes in testing and treatment for irregular or painful periods, PCOS, recurrent miscarriages, infertility, postpartum depression, PMS/PMDD and other gynecological conditions. She is a member of the International Institute of Restorative Reproductive Medicine and has completed additional medical training in NaPro Technology, FEMM Medical Management, and NeoFertility. Dr. Minjeur is passionate about providing education for using fertility awareness methods to get to the root cause of infertility as well as menstrual-related concerns to improve the health of the women she serves.
Dr. Nayima is double board-certified in Internal Medicine and Allergy/Immunology. Born in Vietnam, Dr. Nayima moved to Des Moines as a child and studied Biology at the University of Iowa before attending Des Moines University for medical school. He completed the University of Iowa - Des Moines Internal Medicine Residency Program at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in 2014 and his Allergy/Immunology Fellowship at the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 2016. Dr. Nayima then returned to Des Moines and founded Iowa Allergy in West Des Moines and Ankeny in 2019.
Dr. Nayima is a big proponent of medical education and serves as adjunct faculty with the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics as well as adjunct assistant professor of Internal Medicine with Des Moines University. He also provides lectures and preceptorships to medical students and residency programs in the metro area. His medical interests include seasonal allergies, food allergy, asthma, drug allergy, and immune deficiency.
Dr. Thomas is a board certified gastroenterologist with Gastroenterology Specialties in Lincoln, NE. He completed his GI fellowship 11 years ago and has completed additional training in endobariatrics. He was one of the first gastroenterologists in the midwest to perform an endoscopic bariatric procedure using endoscopic suturing 6 years ago. He works closely with Dr. Sherri Thomas of Nebraska Weight & Wellness in order to offer a variety of nonsurgical procedures to help patients with their weight loss goals.
Joshua Tessier, D.O. is a graduate of Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa. He completed his family medicine residency at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Tessier is faculty physician at UnityPoint Health Systems – Iowa Lutheran Hospital Family Medicine Residency in Des Moines. He is a Regional Assistant Dean and Adjunct Clinical Faculty for Des Moines University and an Adjunct Clinical Faculty for the University of Iowa, Carver College of Medicine.
Dr. Tessier has a BS and MS in Clinical Laboratory Sciences and worked as a medical technologist for three years prior to attending Des Moines University-College of Osteopathic Medicine. This continues to be a special interest area for him at the residency program.
