Objectives:
-Accurately diagnose patients through comprehensive screening and early recognition of symptoms of pulmonary
hypertension, especially pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH)
-Evaluate the patient’s condition and identify when and how to treat and when to consult with colleagues at an established
PAH center
-Partner in long-term optimal collaborative management of PAH
The Maine Osteopathic Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. The Maine Osteopathic Association designates this program for a maximum of 1.0 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Dr. Wirth is Associate Clinical Professor (Medicine) at Tufts University School of Medicine at the Portland, Maine, campus. He serves as the Director of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Maine Medical Center, where he is also the Research Director of their Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program. He is on the Board of Directors of Chest Medicine Associates. Dr. Wirth is a national leader and clinical researcher in pulmonary hypertension, currently serving on the Board of Trustees of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association and chaired their Board of Directors overseeing standards and accreditation of Pulmonary Hypertension Care Centers throughout the United States. Dr. Wirth is also the Clinical Director of Maine Medical Center’s Pulmonary Hypertension Program. He is a graduate of McGill University Faculty of Medicine in Montreal, QC, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Graduate Hospital of the University Pennsylvania. Dr. Wirth completed his Fellowship in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine and Yale-New Haven Hospital.
