Osteopathic care of the foot and ankle

Learning objectives:
1. Assess the basic anatomy of the foot and ankle and recognize common foot and ankle injuries.
2. Perform a physical examination, special tests, and apply osteopathic considerations for ankle and foot injuries and pain.
3. Perform strain/counterstrain, BLT, muscle energy, articulatory technique and HVLA for the foot and ankle.

Gary Gailius, DO, program director of the ONMM-3 Residency, has been working with resident and medical student education at Midwestern University and Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine since 2012. He is a graduate of MWU-AZCOM in 2009 and of the NMM/OMM Residency Program at St Barnabas Hospital in 2012. His professional experience includes designing the current residency curriculum and participating as residency faculty for over 9 years. He has also been course director for the OMS-2, OMS-3, and OMS-4 osteopathic courses throughout the last 8 years. In addition, Dr. Gailius had practiced OMM at the MWU multispecialty clinic since 2012 with a focus on cranial osteopathy, prolotherapy/PRP, and sports medicine. He is a member of the AOA, AAO, AOMA, AOAPRM and Cranial Academy.
