Description

"Female Sexual Health: How to Ask, How to Help” is an evidence-based presentation providing a detailed discussion of female sexual health. The presentation will review sexual health definitions, normal and abnormal symptoms, how we can ask and help while also comparing various pathologic conditions that affect sexual health. Diagnostic evaluation and treatment will be discussed. The session will be applicable to all PAs practicing in primary care and in various medical specialties including gynecology, psychiatry and emergency medicine. Use of case-based presentation and the Audience Response System will ensure audience engagement and retention.  

Objectives for Female Sexual Health: How to Ask, How to Help:

1) Summarize the definitions pertinent to female sexual health

2) Describe normal and abnormal symptoms

3) Summarize what we can do to help patients address sexual health concerns

4) Compare and contrast various pathologic conditions affecting sexual health

5) Explain the risk factors, etiology and presenting symptoms of sexual health conditions

6) Summarize the physical exam findings, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment of sexual health conditions

7) Apply evidence-based medicine to case-based learning scenarios

The Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of .5 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Danielle O’Laughlin is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic in the Division of Community Internal Medicine (CIM) in Rochester, MN.  In addition to her role in CIM she serves as the team lead of the Primary Care Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic and works as the Clinical Skills Co-Director at the Mayo PA Program.
