Gap Analysis: The Osteopathic Embrace originates from the deep camaraderie that permeates the osteopathic profession. We embrace our roots in osteopathic manipulation treatment while also embracing the ever-changing medical landscape. This conference will embrace these topics and allow the osteopathic physicians of Oklahoma to continue providing excellent medical care for their patients.
Learning Objectives: After physicians depart from this program, they will better understand the emerging technologies in medicine and gain knowledge, including approaches to osteopathic manual medicine for the shoulder, how to appropriately prescribe controlled substances, and other skills that will build on and improve their practice of medicine.

How Speakers and Topics Are Selected: The Oklahoma Osteopathic Association’s Bureau on Continuing Medical Education meets twice annually to choose seminar chairs, topics of interest, and the best presenters available to speak on each chosen topic. In addition, past program evaluations are used in determining speakers and topics from past conferences.
Grievance Policy: Program grievances will be presented to the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association Board of Trustees and dealt with appropriately. If this action did not resolve the problem to satisfaction, the person with the grievance will be directed to the American Osteopathic Association’s Division of Continuing Medical Education.
Ryan Hakimi, DO, MS, NVS, RPNI, CPB, FNCS, FCCM, is a neurointensivist and the Director of Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound Services at Prisma Health-Upstate in Greenville, South Carolina. He is a Professor in the Department of Medicine (Neurology) at the University of South Carolina-Greenville School of Medicine. Previously, he was the first neurointensivist in Oklahoma and the founding Medical Director of the OU Medical Center Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit. He was a United States Department of Energy Applied Health Physics Fellow, graduated from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his medicine internship and neurology residency at Michigan State University. He completed a two-year neurocritical care and stroke fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. He is board certified in Neurology, Neurocritical Care, Neurosonology (RPNI), and a Neurovascular Specialist (NVS). He was the first fellowship-trained DO neurointensivist and the first DO to be designated a Fellow of the Neurocritical Care Society.

Rebekah Bernard, MD, is a Family Physician and the author of three books, including Patients at Risk: The Rise of the Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant in Healthcare (Universal Publishers 2020). A sequel to Patients at Risk entitled Imposter Doctors will be released soon.
Dr. Bernard received her medical degree from the University of Miami in 1999, completed her Family Medicine residency at Florida Hospital in Orlando in 2002, and has been self-employed in a direct primary care practice for the last seven years in Gainesville, Florida.
