My Perspective, My Reality: Exploring Perspective Angles and How Unconscious Biases Play a Role in Our Lives and Society


We are all individuals and are unique in our genetic makeup, cultural upbringing, and life experiences. Therefore, we all see things through our own lenses and thus we often perceive things differently than others. Our perspectives guide our perceptions, which we often believe as reality. This talk will explore some perspective angles and how unconscious biases often play a role in our lives and in our society. 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand how different perspectives influence people’s reality 
  2. Identify areas where unconscious bias may exists in your workplace
  3. Identify applicable skills to overcome unconscious bias

The New York State Osteopathic Medical Society (NYSOMS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide osteopathic medical education to physicians. NYSOMS designates this program for a maximum of 1.0 AOA Category 1-A CME credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.
