“How Regional Anesthesia and Multimodal Analgesia Can Aid in the Opioid Epidemic”

Aaron Relic, DO, MBA

• Provide an introduction to regional anesthesia for non-anesthesiologists.

• Describe situations where regional anesthesia is beneficial, especially outside of the OR.

• Describe a multimodal analgesic approach to

               o Reduce opioid use and its undesired effects.

               o Improve patient pain control and satisfaction

               o Decrease hospital length of stay.

Tom A. Hamilton, DO, Born in Illinois but raised in Southeastern Oklahoma. Married for 35 years with 3 children and 4 grandchildren. USAF veteran and proud graduate of Oklahoma State University of Osteopathic Medicine. 30-year resident of Tulsa and have enjoyed all the friends and colleagues that I have come in contact with. Happy to call Oklahoma home.

Creticus P. Marak, MD

Creticus P. Marak, MD  hails from the beautiful hills of Meghalaya in Northeast India. He earned his medical degree from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, before pursuing his Internal Medicine residency and Chief Residency at Harlem Hospital Center in New York City. Dr. Marak further specialized in Pulmonary and Critical Care at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, also in NYC. Currently, he serves as the Chair of Medicine at Northeaster Health System in Tahlequah. Beyond his professional commitments, Dr. Marak cherishes spending quality time with his wife and two sons.

Aaron Relic, DO, MBA

Aaron Relic, DO, MBA  is the Program Director for the Oklahoma State University Anesthesiology Residency Program. He has a passion for leadership in medicine and aspires to train his residents to become leaders in their field. He obtained his MBA from Oklahoma State University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration. His wife Micah is an Obstetrician/Gynecologist in Tulsa, and they have a 5-year-old daughter Isla. He and his family love traveling and great food.
